With deep sadness, we sadly announce the departure of Al Reid on September 27, 2023, at the age of 83. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly (Bev) Reid, formerly known as Beverly Wright, with whom he spent 53 wonderful years of his life. Al’s memory will also be cherished by his children Delia Finn (Paul), Kevin (Kathy) Reid, and Michael (Hillory) Reid, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Al had an immense fondness for his numerous furry companions, including Molly, Maya, Daisy, Otis, Annie, and Moose. Moreover, Al took pride in his siblings: Wayne Wright and Enza, Rusty and Annette Wright, Neil and Judy Wright, Marcel and Josette Kadour, Joanne Edwards, Jane Holmes, and Daryl Guidolin. He expressed his gratitude towards nieces, nephews, dear friends, and fellow musicians for their continuous support and connection. Al had an unwavering passion for music, which he pursued throughout his lifetime. His career began in Ottawa as a folk singer alongside the Ook-piks and subsequently entailed extensive travels with Jack Scott. Over the years, Al regaled countless remarkable tales of his experiences on the road, meeting diverse individuals, and contributing to the history of music. Al was an esteemed member of The Good Time Band, followed by Messiah, before eventually embarking on his solo journey. He was undeniably a first-class troubadour, and his music will forever reside in our hearts. It is now time for him to once again embark on the road that lies ahead. Some of his musical creations can be enjoyed by searching ‘Al Reid Music’ on YouTube. In honor of his memory, donations can be made to the Windsor Humane Society at windsorhumane.org or to any charity of your preference.
