It is with deep sorrow that the family of Allan Smith Hawkins of Thedford announces his passing on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton at the age of 86. Allan was a beloved spouse and lifelong companion to Doris (Davidson) for 68 years. He was a devoted father to Debbie & Dan Pargeter of Thedford, Doug Hawkins of the Klondyke, Dan & Deb Hawkins of Thedford, Jill and Don Ulrich of Forest, and the late Paul Hawkins (1961). Additionally, he was a cherished grandfather to Taylor, Adam, Nathan (Tamara), Ashlie (Josh), Brent (Lizz), Courtney, Danielle (Daniel), Rusty (Jodi), Tanner, and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his sister Marion & Bill Dobbie of London. Allan was predeceased by his brother Larry Hawkins (2023).

Throughout his career, Allan owned Thedford’s renowned Coultis and Son Limited Sawmill, which was particularly famous for the building with a tree passing through its roof when entering the town. The sawmill was known for its generosity in providing free hockey sticks to any child in need. In his leisure time, Allan found great enjoyment in fishing, golfing, hunting, and racing.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Allan will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:30 am, preceded by a visitation hour, with Rev. Dr. Christine O’Reilly officiating the service. Memorial donations in Allan’s name can be directed to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton.

Allan Smith Hawkins of Thedford passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband and loyal friend of Doris (Davidson) for an incredible 68 years. His children include Debbie & Dan Pargeter of Thedford, Doug Hawkins of the Klondyke, Dan & Deb Hawkins of Thedford, Jill and Don Ulrich of Forest, and the late Paul Hawkins (1961). Allan was a loving grandfather to Taylor, Adam, Nathan (Tamara), Ashlie (Josh), Brent (Lizz), Courtney, Danielle (Daniel), Rusty (Jodi), Tanner, and had 11 great-grandchildren. His sister Marion & Bill Dobbie of London will fondly remember him. Allan was preceded in death by his brother Larry Hawkins (2023).

Known for his ownership of Thedford’s esteemed Coultis and Son Limited Sawmill, Allan will be remembered for the iconic building with a tree penetrating its roof as one entered the town. The sawmill gained recognition for its noble gesture of providing free hockey sticks to children in need. In his leisure moments, Allan took pleasure in fishing, golfing, hunting, and racing.

The Celebration of Life for Allan will commence on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:30 am, following an hour of visitation. Rev. Dr. Christine O’Reilly will preside over the service. In memory of Allan, those who wish to contribute may make donations directly to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton.
