Anita Weston, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on August 19, 2023, at Maison McCulloch Hospice. She was the loving mother of Mary-Lynn Weston, who was married to Kevin McNamara. Anita’s parents, Louis and Mary Raiche, both predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Norman Raiche, Eva Raiche, John Raiche, and Claudette Davis, who was married to Ken Davis. Anita held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, who knew her affectionately as NeeNee.

Anita embarked on her professional journey after completing her education at Sheridan Tech School in Sudbury. She dedicated 39 years of her life to working as a switchboard operator for Bell Canada before retiring. Anita’s passion for the outdoors was evident in her joyful summers spent camping and fishing. Gardening was another cherished hobby of hers, and she particularly loved tending to her beloved yellow begonias. Sports played a significant role in Anita’s life, with golf and curling ranking among her favorite activities. Additionally, she exhibited great skill as a seamstress, often creating her own clothing and crafting Halloween costumes. Anita’s talents extended to creating beautiful doll outfits for her nieces and friends, and she was always willing to patch up a teddy bear or mend a dance leotard. Animals brought Anita immense joy, especially dogs, and she made sure to provide nourishment for the birds and chipmunks as well.
