With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved father, Anthony David McKenzie, who peacefully departed this world in the early hours of October 24, 2023. At the age of 86, he bid farewell after a life filled with love, laughter, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and a passion for music. Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret (nee Baldwin), his sons Roger (Leasa), John (Ann), and his daughter Cheryl (Robert St. Amour). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Christopher (Heather), AJ (Samantha), Stefan (Kelsey), McKenzie (Scott), Curtis (Devin), and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. Additionally, Anthony is survived by his brother Jim in Kirkland Lake, ON, and Richard (Juanita) in Sydney, NS. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Laura, and brothers Norman and Danny.

Born on April 19, 1937, in Kirkland Lake, ON to Anthony Sr. and Evelyn McKenzie, Anthony’s formative years were spent in Englehart, ON. It was there that he imbibed the values of hard work, kindness, and the utmost significance of family bonds. These foundations played a pivotal role in shaping his character and touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him, as Anthony was a friend to anyone who crossed his path.

Together with his wife Marg, Anthony raised their family in and around North Bay, ON. He built a reputable career as an electrician, earning recognition as one of the most meticulous professionals in the area. In 2015, Tony and Marg relocated to Shawville, QC, where they swiftly became integral members of the small community. Tony’s love for music and the great outdoors led him to form lasting friendships amongst the Hooley gang, with whom he treasured his time.

Throughout his life, Anthony remained a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Serving as the anchor of our family, he offered unwavering support, gentle smiles, and words of wisdom that influenced our personal growth. His passion for music, hunting, and fishing resonated deeply with his loved ones, who had the privilege of sharing those experiences with him.

Friends are welcomed to attend the visitation at the Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel.

In memory of Anthony McKenzie, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Shawville Lions Club for the Shawville Country Jamboree, in recognition of his cherished memory.

May our dear Dad and Papa Tony rest in peace. His absence leaves a profound void in our lives, yet his memory will forever illuminate our days and continue to thrive within his children and their children.
