Arden Davidson

Arden Roy Davidson, born on October 19th, 1934, peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Arden dedicated himself to various roles throughout his life, starting his career at the age of 14 and later joining the Canadian Armed Forces at 18. He served in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (RCHA) for 24 years and retired as a Warrant Officer after serving in different locations across Canada and Germany. After his military service, he embarked on a second career with the NB Department of Justice, culminating in a 20-year tenure as the Superintendent of the Central Reformatory.

Arden was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion, his parents George and Agnes, as well as his sister Audrey and brother Murray. Cherishing his memory, Arden leaves behind three children: Wendy, Greg (Ronna), and Colleen. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael (Lynne), Jason (Sheila), Abby (Darren), Adam (Amanda), Lindsay, and Taylor (Cameron), along with 11 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he will be fondly remembered by his sisters Joan and Irma, brother George, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Apart from his roles as a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend, Arden had a strong passion for sports. He avidly supported and defended teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Red Sox, and later in life, the Toronto Blue Jays. In his younger days, Arden found great fulfillment fishing and hunting in the outdoors. He took immense pride in his large family and was always eager to share their accomplishments with anyone willing to listen.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the compassionate and empathetic staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Emergency Department who provided excellent care during Arden’s final moments. They would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff and friends at St. Anne’s Court for their kindness and support. As per Arden’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, a private celebration of life ceremony will be held among family members, embracing the beauty of the autumn foliage. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Fredericton SPCA. Bishop’s Funeral Home & Crematorium is handling the arrangements, and online condolences and memories can be shared on their website at http://www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
