Audoreen Nuhn

Audoreen Muriel Nuhn (nee: Bourne) of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on September 19, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on January 31, 1934, in Portage La Prairie, MB, to John Bourne and Gladys Jane (nee: Martin). Audoreen, lovingly called Audie, grew up alongside her two younger sisters, Phyllis and Marilyn. She was given her unique first name after her parents overheard a neighbor’s child saying “Aw, Doreen” to her sister, which she always delighted in sharing.

Audie was a social butterfly who loved to dance. Before venturing out into the world, she broke many hearts in Portage. She eventually found her way to North Bay, ON, where she worked as a receptionist at the Air Base after meeting up with her sister Phyllis. It was there that she met the shy but charming airman, Herman Nuhn. They fell in love quickly, and within four months, they were married on December 29th, 1956. Their marriage lasted for an incredible 66 years, until Herman’s passing just a few months prior.

Throughout her life, Audie experienced many adventures with her sisters and their respective husbands, who were also airmen. She dedicated herself to raising her family in various air bases across Canada, as Herman served in the Air Force. After settling in Moose Jaw in 1970, Audie pursued a career as an executive secretary at Sears and Sask Agriculture, once her children were self-sufficient. Audie and Herman were true partners in every sense, and after retiring, they traveled extensively, exploring casinos and ballparks across Canada and the US, forming countless friendships along the way.

In her later years, Audie required the care of Providence Place in Moose Jaw. Herman faithfully visited her daily until his own passing, joining Audie in the same care facility four months prior to his departure. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Marilyn; children Karen, Darla Mayer (John), and Derek; grandchildren Jared, Joel (Virginia), Jordan, Brett, Krista, and Tania; and great-grandson Oliver.

A Funeral Service will be held on September 27, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Marvin Seaborg. Interment will follow at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home Columbarium.
