July 4, 2023

Our beloved family matriarch, Audrey, has peacefully passed away at the remarkable age of 103. In the early hours of July 4th, surrounded by her daughter, Audrey peacefully left this world in her sleep. She was born in Victoria, B.C. to Ida and Charles Brigden and had a sister named Margaret who came into the world three years after her. Audrey sadly joins her loved ones in death, including her parents, sister, and her late husband, Neil.

Audrey’s legacy lives on through her children: sons Ken (Valerie), Jim (Elizabeth), and daughter Patricia (Larry). She was also a loving grandmother to Bradley (Carla), Christine (J.R.), Cameron (Ashley), Kirsty (Tod), Graham (Andrea), and Erin (Josh). Additionally, Audrey was blessed with great-grandchildren: Kiam, Kaden, Cruz, Max, Logan, Presley, William, Rachel, Donovan, Isaac, and Jonah. Her nieces and nephews in B.C. and Ontario also remember her fondly. Audrey’s absence will be deeply felt by all who cherished her.

Audrey and Neil exchanged vows on July 18, 1941, in Victoria. They embarked on a wonderful journey together, creating a nurturing and loving home for their children. Due to Neil’s various positions within the Federal Government, they relocated to Halifax, Ottawa, and Vancouver over the years. After Neil’s retirement, they enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona, and embarked on numerous memorable cruises. Their commitment to each other spanned a lifetime, until Neil’s passing in 2010.

Audrey was an extraordinary and remarkable lady. Those fortunate enough to have known her will forever remember her for her genuine kindness, caring nature, and infectious cheerfulness. Her positive influence on those around her will never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Dufferin Care Centre for the exceptional care they provided to Audrey during her final months. May Mom rest in eternal peace.
