John Benson “Ben” Mullin, aged 94, passed away on September 25, 2023 at Norview Lodge in Simcoe. He was predeceased by his wife of over 68 years, Mabel “Doris” Mullin (nee Daniel – 2019). Ben was a loving father to Rick (Chris) of Port Dover and Rev. Ron (Lynn) of Simcoe. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Jeff (Carrie), Tiffany Smith (Bryan), Rachel Luis (Fil), Sarah Neal (Steve), and the late Jason (2023). Ben also leaves behind great-grandchildren Javan and Lucas, Stella and Violet, Grace and Everly, and Soren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael “Johnny” Mullin and Irene Attleberry (nee James), as well as his siblings Jim (Vi), Dolores Calliauw (Firmen), Bob (Mary), Bill (Ann), and Fran Deschamps (Noel). Ben was actively involved in various local sports in Simcoe, including golf, hockey, baseball, and hunting. He spent most of his career at the American Can in Simcoe. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Jason Smith Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Stephen Kring. Ben will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ben to the Alzheimer Society of H-N.
