Bernard “Bernie” Frank Fisher, a beloved resident of Caraquet, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the age of 71. He was the loving husband of Ina Frenette and the son of the late Bernard Fisher and Viola Lavigne-Fisher. Survived by his wife, mother, two daughters, Tania and Erica, and cherished grandchildren Rebecca Jagoe, Samuel Jagoe, and Jake Jameson. Bernie is also remembered by his brothers Bryce, Carl, Scott, and half-brother Wayne Love. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard, and half-sister, June Beaton.
Born in South Bathurst, Bernie embarked on a fulfilling career as a heavy equipment mechanic. His expertise took him across New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and even overseas. He spent several years as a sale supervisor at Dynatek Mining. Bernie had many passions outside of work. He had a talent for building decks, cabins, and birdhouses and enjoyed immersing himself in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies, and he also found joy in watching his beloved baseball team, the Blue Jays. In his free time, Bernie cultivated a beautiful garden, filled with sunflowers, foxgloves, and black-eyed Susans.
Everyone who knew Bernie will deeply miss his incredible cooking skills, particularly his mouthwatering fillets made from freshly caught bass. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Solange Lanteigne, Dr. Nicholas Finn, the medical team at the New-Brunswick Extra-Mural Program of Caraquet, and his devoted caregivers, Michel Cormier and Rose-Marie Collin. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. In memory of Bernie, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
The Coopérative funéraire “La Colombe” Ltée of Caraquet is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Condolences can be sent through their website (www.cflacolombe.ca).
