Bernard MACNEIL

Bernard Francis MacNeil, a resident of Chatham, passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 77 at Riverview Gardens. He was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, to Frank and Jessie MacNeil. Bernard is survived by his loving children, Stuart MacNeil and Lesley MacNeil, who is married to Rod MacNeil. He also leaves behind his siblings, Donald MacNeil, Ray MacNeil, and Anne MacNeil. Bernard had a successful career in the mutual insurance industry and served as the General Manager of the Kent and Essex Farmers Mutual. He also held the position of chairman of the board for the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association. Known for his generous and charitable nature, Bernard was dearly loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. He will be deeply missed by all. In accordance with Bernard’s request, cremation has already taken place. A memorial visitation to honor his memory will be held at McKinlay Funeral Home on August 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in memory of Bernard to a charity of choice.
