Betty HALEY
Betty Haley, a cherished mother and friend, passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 88 at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. She was born in Buctouche, New Brunswick, on April 7, 1935, to Doris Gordon Smith and Orrin Grant Whitney. Betty married Paul Douglas Haley in 1954 in Sackville, New Brunswick, and dedicated herself to providing love, support, and guidance to her children. She was an active volunteer in her children’s school, a champion curler, and a dedicated coach of a girl’s hockey team. Betty was known as the family’s “Mrs. Fixit” and was skilled at sewing, knitting, and creating costumes. She had a deep love for her family cottage in Baie Verte, New Brunswick, and enjoyed spending time there and antique hunting.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Kim Schweyer (Brantford), Pamela Haley (Kingston), and Cindy Renaud (Peter, Belleville), grandson Joshua Renaud (Belleville), and her sister Wanda Jonah (Hillsborough, New Brunswick), as well as several nieces and nephews. In lieu of a service, donations can be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada in her remembrance.
