Betty Hans

Betty Hans, a resident of Moncton, peacefully passed away at the age of 96 on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Born in Amherst, NS, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Baig.

After a long and devoted career as a Registered Nurse, Betty retired. However, retirement didn’t stop her from pursuing her passion for education. She decided to go back to university and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Betty was actively involved in her community, being a lifelong member of Tiferes Israel Synagogue. She served as a member of the sisterhood and the Hadassah. Additionally, she was a part of the Moncton Hospital Nurses Alumni. Betty loved spending time outdoors, engaging in activities such as gardening, spending time at her cottage, walking, XC skiing, visiting the beach, and swimming. She also had a great interest in collecting paintings. Most importantly, Betty cherished moments spent with her family.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Alan Hans, along with her children, Jeff (Cheryl) and Lisa (Steven). She also leaves behind grandchildren Caleb (Emily Klekta), Josh (Melanie), Micah (Jess), and Alyza (Micah), as well as great-grandchildren Alan Jeffrey, Winn, Izzy, and Ami. Surviving sister Barb (Phil) and other extended family and friends will also miss her dearly. Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera, Hazel, and Dorothy.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Betty’s doctors, nurses, and the Extra Mural Team for their exceptional care, ensuring that she could stay at home during her final days. A Service to Celebrate and Honour Betty’s life was held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Tiferes Israel Synagogue. Following the service, she was laid to rest at Tiferes Israel Cemetery in Dieppe.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, located at 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995). In memory of Betty, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to CARMA or People for Animal Wellbeing.
