Betty Jean Buchanan

Betty Jean Buchanan (nee Robertson) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 16, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty Jean is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, David, as well as her three daughters Laura, Gwyneth (Cam), and Jennifer (Carson). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Sean, Mallory (Dillon), Alison, Michael, Kyle, Megan, and Jamie, and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Abby Jean, along with their mother, Robyn. Betty Jean’s sister Gail (Jan) of Oakville mourns her loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilf and Doris Robertson, and two infant grandsons, Scott and Tyler.

Betty Jean was born on December 13, 1935, in Edmonton, and was the daughter of Doris Elizabeth Robertson (nee Duncan) and Andrew George Wilfred Robertson. She grew up in Edmonton and attended Victoria Composite High School. Betty Jean later graduated from the University of Alberta Business program in 1956.

In memory of Betty Jean, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Stars Air Ambulance or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 7th, at 11:00 am at Robertson Wesley United Church in Edmonton. A reception will follow in the church hall.
