Betty McNabb

Betty Darlene McNabb, a resident of Calgary for many years, passed away on July 4, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born in Innisfail, Alberta, the youngest of five daughters, to John and Clara Schmick. Betty grew up on a farm in the Midway District near Carstairs. After graduating from Carstairs High School in 1962, she moved to Calgary where she began her remarkable career with the Bank of Montreal. Over the course of 40 years, Betty held various positions at different branches in the city, including Stock Yard, TransCanada Mall, Marlborough Mall, and Sunridge Mall, where she retired in 2009. As a Customer Service Representative, her passion for helping people and her dedication to her work were evident. Even after retirement, Betty was recognized by customers who expressed their gratitude for her and the impact she had made in their lives. Her commitment, love, and compassion left an enduring legacy. Betty’s husband of 52 years, Gerry, her sons Trevor (Michelle) and Jarett (fiancé Jenn), as well as her siblings Edna Dolphin, Florence McKay, Marjorie Anderson, and Shirley Mckinnon, will miss her dearly. Although there will not be a formal service, a Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on November 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Half Century Club on Osler Street in Carstairs, Alberta. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Clara, and her siblings Edna Dolphin, Florence McKay, Marjorie Anderson, and Shirley Mckinnon.
