Betty Richards

Betty Lou Richards (née Moffatt), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 96. She was surrounded by her loving family as she reunited with her late husband, Johnny, who passed away in 1993. Betty Lou leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her children Lynne (Les) Morvay, Leslee (the late Tom – 1992) Borshuk, Mary Richards (Debbie Dube), and DeeDee (Rob) Barsotta.

Throughout her life, Betty Lou played a vital role as the true matriarch of her family. She and her husband operated Johnny’s Meat Market for over three decades, working side by side. In addition to her dedication to their business, Betty Lou also volunteered extensively with the Red Cross. She was a lifetime member of All Saints’ Church, where she contributed in numerous capacities, including participation in the choir, management of the clothing cupboard, involvement with the ACW, Neighborhood Centre, Chancel Guild, and preparation of Scott Hall for various events.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Oak Park Terrace and the 6th floor of WRH – Ouellette Campus, as well as the Hospice of Windsor, for their exceptional care and compassion for Betty Lou during her final days. In her memory, the family kindly requests donations to the Hospice of Windsor or the All Saints’ Church Memorial Fund. A private cremation has already taken place.

A memorial visiting will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at All Saints’ Anglican Church, City Hall Square, starting from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. The family also invites friends and loved ones to share memories, photos, or make a donation at As Betty Lou always said, “Live a good day!”
