Brian William Barr passed away on July 26, 2023, at Orillia’s Soldier’s Memorial Hospital due to complications from surgery. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, their children Mike Barr and Patty Ascough, grandchildren Jonathan Ascough, Andrew Ascough, Kristopher Barr, Meghan Barr, and great-grandson Robert Ascough. Brian was the son of Robert and Christine Barr and the brother of Jan Fox Howlett, Brenda Ernst, Rob Barr, and the late Colleen Barr. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family. Brian had a successful career as an entrepreneur and supported various charities throughout his life.
In addition to his achievements in business and his commitment to philanthropy, Brian had a passion for the outdoors, especially golf. He found solace and joy on the golf course and cherished the camaraderie he shared with fellow golf enthusiasts. Brian’s genuine spirit of kindness, zest for life, and love of fun and friendship touched the lives of many people.
A visitation will take place at Carsons Funeral Home – L.Doolittle Chapel in Orillia on August 3, 2023, followed by a celebration of life at the Toronto Golf Club in Mississauga on August 8, 2023. In memory of Brian, the family requests donations to be made to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital General Surgery and ER, Mariposa House Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
