Bryce Bruce

Bryce peacefully passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. By his side were his loved ones, Michael, Caroline, and Meta. Bryce was born on January 22nd, 1935, in Taxis River, New Brunswick. He was the ninth child of Berton and Emma Bruce.

Bryce leaves behind his cherished wife, Meta (Boulay, Rideout), along with his children: Shelley Sansom (Brock), JC Boulay (Susan), and Michael Boulay (Caroline). His grandchildren include Matthew Sansom (Michelle), Vanessa Talmage (Darrin), Kathryn Sansom (Ben), Justin Beattie, Jennifer Bruce (Danny), Brandon Bruce (Alyssa), Chelsey Bruce (Preston), Stephanie Pond (Curtis), Christopher White (Crystal), Elizabeth White (Mike), and Benjamin Boulay. Additionally, he is survived by 25 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sadly, Bryce was preceded in death by his parents, Berton and Emma Bruce, his nine siblings, and his son, Brian Bruce.

Throughout his career, Bryce worked as a salesman and sales manager for Caterpillar Tractors and Equipment. He dedicated much of his time to volunteering and serving his community. Bryce was actively involved as a Gideon, Shriner, and Deacon. He held leadership positions on multiple Boards. His strong work ethic was evident in his commitment to hard work. Bryce expected no less from his family and taught them by example. Laziness was never tolerated. Another passion of his was drag racing and cars, which he carried with him from his early years until the end.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Feltmate, Dr. Kenny, and all the other doctors, nurses, and staff at the DECRH. They also extend their thanks to the staff at St. Anne’s Court and Maria Pfinder, who provided compassionate care to Bryce throughout his last year. As his body weakened, Bryce appreciated the care they provided during the challenges faced by all.

Arrangements for Bryce’s services have been entrusted to York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at Parkers Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at 11 am. Following the service, a reception will take place at the Gateway of Hope Assembly in Boiestown. Personal condolences can be offered through the York Funeral Home’s website at http://www.yorkfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that remembrances be made to the Gideons, Woodsmen’s Museum, Royal Canadian Legion, Normandy Branch #78, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
