Catherine Edwards

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Catherine G. (Hopkins) Edwards. She was born on August 17, 1955, in Saint John, NB, and was the beloved daughter of Eleanor and the late Robert “Bob” Hopkins.

Catherine, affectionately known as Cathy, is survived by her siblings, Jane Weaver, John Hopkins, and Christine Haynes. She is also survived by her loving children, David, Carole, and Jason Edwards, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Tristan and Victoria Smith, along with other extended family members.

In addition to her father, Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Edwards, and her brother, William “Bill” Hopkins. Cathy graduated from Simmonds High School in 1973 and went on to complete her education at the University of New Brunswick’s Education program in 1977.

Cathy dedicated 40 years of her life as a volunteer for organizations such as I.O.D.E. and Born to Read. She touched the lives of many as a second mother to her children’s friends and colleagues. Her passion for reading and storytelling resonated with all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
