Catherine “Kay” Perry

Kay Perry, who lived to be 100 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at The Moncton Hospital in Moncton. She was born in Daniel’s Harbour Newfoundland and was the daughter of the late Norman and Cora (Verge) Perry.

Kay dedicated her working career to Moirs Chocolate in Halifax, where she eventually retired as an inspector of the Candy Packing division. She was a diligent and committed employee throughout her time at the company.

In addition to her work, Kay was deeply spiritual and faithfully followed Christ. She was an active member of St. James Anglican Church in Moncton, where she participated in various church activities, including the Altar Guild, ACW, and fundraising events. Kay also supported Holy Cross Anglican Church in Daniel’s Harbour, NL. She utilized her talents in sewing, crocheting, and knitting to create projects for her loved ones, as well as Prayer Shawls for the Prayer Shawl ministry at St. James. Kay had a passion for gardening and eagerly awaited the arrival of spring to dig up plants for the annual plant sale at her church. Her family and her faith meant the world to her, and she wholeheartedly dedicated herself to both.

Kay is survived by her sister Loretta Laventure (late Boyd) of Moncton, NB, her brother Brinkley Perry (Beatrice) of Daniel’s Harbour, NL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Howard (Winnie), Curtis (Myra), and infant brother Richard, as well as her sister Faye (Des) Sonley.

Arrangements for Kay’s funeral service will be handled by Fergusons Funeral Home, located at 1657 Mountain Rd. in Moncton. The service will take place in Daniel’s Harbour, Newfoundland at a later date, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations in Kay’s honor can be made to St. James Anglican Church in Moncton or Holy Cross Anglican Church in Daniel’s Harbour, NL.
