Charles DOUGLAS

Charles Gerald “Charlie” Douglas, aged 88, passed away peacefully at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home in Simcoe, Ontario on September 19, 2023. He was a beloved husband to Rosemary for 65 years and a loving father to Jocelyn (Don) and Deb (Kevin). Charlie was also a treasured grandfather to Eric, Emma (Paul), Joshua, Caleb, and Megan (Tanner), and a precious great-grandfather to Luke and Darcy. He is survived by many dear relatives in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Archer Douglas, his mother Mary Eleanor (Molly) Eyre, his sister Margaret (Harry), and his brother Archer (Sadie).

Charlie was proud to be both an Ulsterman and a Canadian. He was a life member of the CMA (Canadian Medical Association) and the RIA (Revenue Integrity Association). He held various positions during his professional career, including Treasurer and CEO of the Region of Haldimand Norfolk. Charlie was a loyal supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, and U.K. soccer. He had many hobbies and interests, including curling, golfing, being a Rotarian, and being an avid reader, stamp collector, music composer, and cat lover. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has already taken place, and there will be no visitation or service. The Ferris Funeral Home, located at 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
