Colonel (retired) Charles N. McCabe, OMM, CD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Queensway Carleton Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Chuck, as he was affectionately known, dedicated his life to the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, where he proudly served as the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel. He was an esteemed figure within the regiment and will be deeply missed by his comrades. Chuck was born on [date] to his late parents, John Moyse and Lillian May McCabe. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 62 years, Lorraine (Smith), as well as his three daughters, Cindy (Rob Judd), Tracey (Rob, Tamara, and Ryan White), and Leslee (Blair Cribb), along with his grandchildren Allyson and Erin Judd, and Madeline and Simon Cribb. Unfortunately, Chuck was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn (Cox) and Malcolm McCabe.
In memory of Chuck, the family kindly requests that donation be made to either the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada or the Ottawa Heart Institute, in lieu of flowers. The impact he made during his military career and his strong commitment to his community will always be remembered. A celebration of Chuck’s remarkable life will take place on September 30th at 2pm, in the Kanata United Church.
Chuck’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His dedication to the military and his unwavering support for his family will continue to inspire for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace.
