Christine IVEY

Christine Myrtle Ivey, born on July 13, 1940, passed away on October 24, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Christie and Myrtle Grace (nee Gamble). She was preceded in death by her siblings Imogen Givens and John O’Hurley, as well as her husband Charles Ivey. Christine is survived by her brothers Terry Grace and Gary Grace.

Christine was in a cherished partnership with John Baker and together they had three children: Thomas Ivey (married to Sharon), Sarah Ivey (married to Naoki), and Peter Ivey (married to Alisha). She was also a loving grandmother to Hanako.

Throughout her life, Christine held various roles, including being a schoolteacher and board trustee in Norfolk County. She was also an entrepreneur and managed her own bed and breakfast with John in Port Dover. Christine was known for her dedication as a friend and mother. Additionally, she actively participated in community organizations such as the Norfolk Horticultural Society, the Lighthouse Theater, and was involved in the establishment of Art in the Park. Christine and John enjoyed socializing with fellow members of the Port Dover Yacht Club, and together they shared a passion for boating. In her leisure time, Christine loved needlepoint, reading, and playing bridge.

Christine had a profound impact on the lives of her children, enriching their experiences through her love of travel, the arts, and continuous learning. Alongside John, she embarked on memorable journeys across Europe and the UK, creating treasured memories shared with friends and family. Christine will be deeply missed by her loved ones, leaving behind a void in the hearts of many.
