Colleen Hutchinson

Colleen Rae Hutchinson (nee More), aged 92, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Southbridge Care Home in Owen Sound. She was born on May 17, 1930, in St. Catharines. Colleen was a devoted mother to Ruth, Harry (Beth), Carol, Linda, Julie, and Scott. She was also a cherished Gran-Nana to 16 grandchildren, Great-Gran-Nana to 35, and Great-Great-Gran-Nana to four. Colleen will be forever remembered by her dear sister Julie Gill, sister Karen Ross (Malcolm), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her dear friend Gord Woods, sons-in-law Wayne Gallaugher and Gary Watson, brother Ron More, and brother-in-law Leonard Gill. Throughout her life, Colleen was an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, dedicating her time and skills to the Owen Sound Branch 6. She was well-known in the community for her friendly service as a cashier at the old Dominion and Mr. Grocer grocery stores. Colleen had a passion for playing cards and enjoyed games such as Pepper and Euchre. She loved spending quality time camping with family and friends, and most of all, adored her grandchildren. A visitation for Colleen will take place at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home in Owen Sound on Sunday, August 27, from 2-4 p.m., with a Branch 6 Ladies’ Auxiliary service at 2 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on August 28 from 1 p.m. until the time of Colleen’s funeral service, officiated by Rev. Kathy Underwood, at 2 p.m. Following the service, a reception will be held. For those unable to attend, the funeral service will be livestreamed via the funeral home website. Colleen held a lifelong commitment to the Ladies’ Auxiliary and actively contributed her time and skills to Owen Sound Branch 6. Throughout the community, she was recognized as a friendly face behind the register at the former Dominion and Mr. Grocer grocery stores. Colleen found joy in playing card games, particularly Pepper and Euchre. She also enjoyed camping, spending quality time with her loved ones, and showering her adored grandchildren with love and affection. Visitation for Colleen will be held at Brian E.
