Daphne MacLean

Daphne Helena (Taylor) MacLean, beloved wife of Rev. Allison MacLean, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. She was born in Charlottetown, PEI, and was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph Henry Taylor and the late Rosella May Maher.

Daphne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allison, as well as their daughter, Anne MacLean, and their son, Bruce (Patti Easton) MacLean. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Janelle, Heidi, and Joey. Daphne is further survived by her sisters Sylvia Matheson (Donald) and Sandra Richardson (Mark), and her sisters-in-law Velma Taylor and Eileen Heffel Taylor, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her two brothers, Ian Willis Taylor and Joseph Donne Taylor, as well as sister-in-law Gloria Taylor.

Daphne graduated from Prince of Wales College and St. Dunstan’s University, and prior to her marriage to Allison, she taught at Charlottetown Rural High School. She supported Allison in his ministry for many years, which took them across Saskatchewan and the three Maritime Provinces. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the DECRH for their compassionate care over the past five months. They also extend their appreciation to the Dialysis Teaching Clinic in Saint John for their support over the past nine years.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home in Fredericton on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 30th at 3 pm, officiated by Rev. Paul Thompson. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at People’s Cemetery in Charlottetown PEI, officiated by Rev. Kent Compton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Daphne’s memory to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice. Personal condolences can be offered at http://www.yorkfh.com.
