David Donald Aiton Oxley, born in Sussex, New Brunswick in 1937, passed away on November 3, 2023. He is survived by his wife Pierrette Oxley and their children John, Peter, and Jill, along with their spouses Anne, Christina, and Brian respectively. Dave also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Angus, Isaac, Simon, Tegan, Laine, Gregor, Sophie, Erik, Aiton, and Lily. His two sisters, Anne Orser and Constance Dowd, are also among the survivors. Dave obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick in 1959. He began his professional journey with the New Brunswick Department of Lands and Mines, eventually joining the Fraser Company in 1964. In 1972, he became part of J.D. Irving Ltd, where he dedicated 27 years to leading and overseeing the company’s woodlands operations. Salmon fishing, working in the woods, skiing, and traveling brought Dave immense joy throughout his life. However, his greatest source of happiness was his cherished grandchildren, whom he had the privilege of seeing on a daily basis. Dave treasured his time spent with friends, engaging in activities like playing 5 cent poker and bowling. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In 1972, he joined J.D. Irving Ltd, where he spent the next 27 years leading and directing all aspects of the company’s woodlands operations. Dave’s passions included salmon fishing, working in the woods, skiing, and traveling. However, above all, his heart belonged to his beloved 10 grandchildren, whom he had the joy of seeing every day. Dave also cherished spending time with his close friends, whether engaging in leisurely activities like 5 cent poker or bowling.
