Dennis Patrick Duff

February 6, 1950

July 25, 2023

With deep sorrow, we announce the untimely passing of Dennis Patrick Duff, the beloved father of Lee-Ann and Dennis Duff. He peacefully departed from this world at the age of 73 in Elliot Lake, the place he called home, though he was previously residing in Massey. Dennis was born on February 6, 1950, in Walford Station, Ontario, to Edmund and Edith Duff, with his mother’s maiden name being Whalen. Joining his older sister Carolyn, he was followed by his younger brothers Eddy, Barry, Danny, Gerry, and Jody.

When he turned 18, Dennis followed in his father’s footsteps and began working in the mines of Elliot Lake, where he spent his early years underground. Through a sponsorship, he later had the opportunity to pursue further education at George Brown College in Toronto. In 1980, he successfully completed the Millwright Program, a significant accomplishment that he cherished throughout his life.

During summer weekends, Dennis and his family would find solace at Eddy’s camp, engaging in various activities such as swimming, fishing, playing horseshoes, and sharing hearty meals, accompanied by laughter and storytelling. As winter prevailed, the weekends were dedicated to ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and curling, creating cherished memories.

In the year 2000, Dennis relocated to London, Ontario, after accepting a millwright position with Cuddy Foods, later known as Cargill. There, he put his skills to use by repairing machinery in the chicken processing plant, which served McDonald’s restaurants across Canada. On August 1, 2019, Dennis retired from Cargill, marking the end of a fulfilling chapter in his career.

Leaving behind a legacy of love, Dennis is survived by his adoring children, Lee-Ann and Dennis, his mother Edith, his ex-wife Isabelle, his sister Carolyn and her husband Gary, as well as his brothers Barry (Rhonda), Danny (France), Gerry (Paulette), Jody (Diane), and their respective families. He will be deeply missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Sadly, Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Ed Duff Sr. (2003), his brother Ed Duff Jr. (Eddy) (2020), and his sister-in-law Karen Duff (2018). In honor of his affection for Walford, his hometown, the family kindly requests donations to the Walford Community Centre in lieu of flowers, a gesture that would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of Dennis’s life will be organized at a later date, allowing loved ones to come together and commemorate his remarkable journey.
