Diana CROOK
Diana “Di” Beryl Crook, born on June 22, 1944, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2023. She was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Aunt, Mother (Mum), Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. Diana was born into a working-class family in Nottingham, England. Her father worked as a taxi driver, while her mother served as housekeeping staff at the local Royal Canadian Airforce hospital. Before her marriage, Diana worked as a skilled seamstress at a clothing factory. It was during the Cold War that she met her husband, a young RCAF airman stationed overseas. They tied the knot and welcomed their first child, John Ernest, while still residing in the UK. Afterwards, her husband was posted back to Canada, and in March 1964, Diana journeyed to her new home, leaving her cherished “Old Country” behind. Ten years later, their family expanded with the addition of Kristina Dawn.
As a military spouse, Diana consistently went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition whenever her family relocated to a new town. Deeply patriotic, she carried her British traditions wherever she went and maintained meticulous standards, just in case the Queen happened to pay a visit. A talented craftsperson, Diana excelled in sewing and knitting, dedicating countless hours to creating items for her loved ones and various charitable causes. She particularly devoted her time knitting bandage wraps for a local church to support those suffering from leprosy. Diana had a profound love for music, often singing and dancing whenever her favorite songs played on the radio. However, her greatest joy came from doting on her family. During holidays, their gatherings were filled with abundant homemade treats, lavishly decorated Christmas trees, and stockings brimming with fruit and nuts.
In memory of Diana Crook, instead of sending flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation in Edmonton, Alberta, or her chosen charities, The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Red Cross.
