Donald Stuart Holmes, aged 88, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Friday, September 22, 2023. Born in Newton, Perth County on April 10, 1934, he was the beloved son of Alexander and Mary Holmes. Donald is survived by his loving children Kevin (Cheryl), Jennifer Albrecht (Paul), Andrew (Loveth) Holmes, and Mary (Mark) Holmes. He took great pride in being a doting grandfather to Michael Albrecht, Amy Stemmler (Josh), Alexander Holmes, Mckenzie Holmes, Felicia Holmes, and Helena Holmes. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Georgia and Ronan Stemmler. Predeceased by his brothers Robert, Ralph, and Bruce, as well as his nephew Brian Holmes. The family extends their gratitude to the dedicated staff at Derbecker’s Heritage House in St Jacobs for their exceptional care during his final year. Throughout his life, Don expressed a deep passion for hockey and fondly recalled witnessing the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Stanley Cup victories in person during the 50’s and 60’s. Baseball also held a significant place in his heart, serving as both a coach and umpire, and later as an unwavering supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays. As a proud member of the Ontario Genealogical Society, Don transformed his fascination with ancestry into a fulfilling retirement career. His unwavering commitment to his interests left an indelible mark on those around him, making him a special figure in their lives.

The passing of Donald Stuart Holmes has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
