Donald NEUFELD

Donald Douglas Neufeld, 87, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loved ones on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Born in Rosthern, SK, he embarked on his journey as a hired hand on a farm south of Milestone during his late teens.

Destiny led him to the farm owned by Eddie and Jean Brown, where he encountered the love of his life, Iris. They tied the knot in October 1961, and subsequently resided in Sonningdale, SK, where they leased farmland and became active members of the community, forming lifelong friendships.

In 1972, Donald and Iris purchased farmland south of Lang, and returned to the place where their story began, along with their two children. Donald was known for his strong and silent demeanor, dedicating himself to work from sunrise to sunset every day. Over the course of 30 years, he and Iris diversified their farming activities to include pigs, cattle, chickens, and milk cows. Donald adored his animals, particularly his dogs and horses.

In 2003, they sold the farm and relocated to Regina, embracing a well-deserved retirement and forming new friendships within the community. Donald had a fondness for playing cards, with an avid passion for poker that often led him and Iris to the casino multiple times a month. They engaged in bridge clubs, danced, participated in their senior complex, and enjoyed the relaxation they had earned.

Today, we bid farewell to the epitome of strength. Donald was a man of his word, an individual whose handshake held genuine value, and the rock of our lives. Cherishing his memory are his beloved wife of 61 years, Iris; son, Neil (Joanne), and their children Jenna (Cole), Denae (Kaden), and Nolan; daughter, Nora (Ian), and their children Brandi (Broden) and Evan; as well as countless other family members and friends who are too numerous to name individually.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s honor can be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, located at 200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, SK S4W 0G3 or through their website at http://www.cancerfoundationsask.ca. Messages of condolence can be shared online at paragonfuneralservices.com.
