Donald Pearse

Donald Keith Pearse, aged 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 6, 2023, at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre. He had been receiving care for dementia since 2021. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Campbell-Pearse. He is also survived by his three biological children, Helen (Alan), Howard (Bess), and Gordon (Drena), as well as his step-children, Leslie (Marianne), Louanne (James), Ruth (Al), and Stephen (Carolyn). In addition to his children, Donald leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Donald dedicated himself to serving as a pastor. He faithfully served in Baptist churches in Alton and Kapuskasing, Ontario, as well as Winnipeg, Manitoba. As he grew older, Donald continued his spiritual calling by volunteering as a pastor in various Nova Scotia communities, including Goldboro, Seal Harbour, New Harbour, and Isaacs Harbour. In Edmonton, he worked as a counsellor, offering his support and guidance at the Edmonton Remand Center and the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission. He additionally led a powerful ministry for Cambodian refugees associated with Meadowlark Baptist Church.

A celebration of Donald’s remarkable life will be held at Robertson-Wesley United Church on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., located at 10209-123 St., Edmonton, AB, T5N 1N3. Following the service, interment and a reception will take place. In honor of Donald, the family kindly requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to Robertson-Wesley, where financial contributions would be gratefully received.
