Donald William Samms, aged 66, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2023, at Kingston Health Sciences. He is survived by his loving partner and best friend, Kim Elliott, with whom he shared 22 years of companionship. Donald was the beloved son of Julia Dorcas Samms, and he was preceded in death by his father, Edward. He took great pride in being a stepfather to Tania McLean Mitchell and a grandfather to Malorie and David (Kaelly) Mitchell. He was also a dear brother-in-law to Michael and Dawn McLean. Sadly, Donald was predeceased by his brother, Edward. He will always be remembered by his best friends Chris (Radar) McChayne and Kim Milks, as well as numerous friends and family members. Donald’s passion for Nascar racing, playing the guitar, and enjoying a cold beer brought him great joy throughout his life. The family has chosen cremation, and a graveside service will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens on Tuesday November 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Lung Association or the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gordon F. His mother, Julia Dorcas Samms, survives him, while his father, Edward, predeceases him. Donald took pride in being a stepfather to Tania McLean Mitchell, and he cherished his role as a grandfather to Malorie and David (Kaelly) Mitchell. Meanwhile, Michael and Dawn McLean were dear brother-in-law to him. Unfortunately, his brother, Edward, preceded him in death. Donald’s lasting memories will be held by his closest friends, Chris (Radar) McChayne and Kim Milks, as well as numerous other friends and relatives. During his lifetime, he worked for the City of Kingston and found joy in Nascar racing, playing the guitar, and spending time with a cold beer.
