We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. On July 19th, 2023, at the age of 92, our beloved mother reunited with her late husband, Dick, on the other side. She departed just before reaching her 93rd birthday, leaving behind a lifetime of love and memories. Born on July 27, 1930, in Regina Saskatchewan, she was raised by her parents George and Lulu Mae Younghusband.

In 1966, our mother’s path crossed with the extraordinary Dick Currie, who would become the best husband and father one could ever dream of. The two of them joined in matrimony on July 4, 1970, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Throughout her professional life, our mother dedicated herself to BC Hydro, tirelessly working from 1966 until her retirement in 1986. However, it was the moments beyond her professional domain that truly defined her. From curling at the Burnaby Winter Club to camping at Tee Pee Trailer Park by Cultus Lake, she created lifelong connections and countless cherished memories.

Together with her husband, our mother embarked on various cruises and engaged in their shared passion for travel. Unfortunately, our mother had to bid farewell to not only her parents, George and Lulu Mae but also her husband Dick, brother Blair, sister Joan, and numerous dear friends and family. Despite these losses, her legacy continues through her surviving loved ones. She is survived by her daughters Kim (Lyle), Brenda, son Ron (Van), and grandchildren Jason (Anna) and Crystal (Colin). Additionally, her great-granddaughter, Kairi, will carry forward the love and spirit that defined our mother.

During the later years of her life, our mother received unwavering support and care from the Belvedere Care Centre. We express our deepest gratitude to them for their incredible dedication. As per her wishes, no service will be held. However, a celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Windsor Oaks Clubhouse in Pitt Meadows, BC (19160-119th Avenue). In memory of our beloved mother, we kindly request that any donations be made in her name to either the BC Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of BC.
