Donna SURGENOR

Donna Eileen Surgenor (nee Knull), born on April 4, 1944, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, sadly passed away on July 21, 2023, at the age of 79. Donna was a remarkable individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family and an unwavering work ethic.

Survived by her daughter Shelley (Bob) Henry, sons Shane (Darla) Williams and Sheldon (Tasha) Williams, granddaughter Shandel (Dale) White, grandsons Tyson (Sara) Henry, Wyatt Williams, Levi Williams, Lincoln Williams, Jordan Fawcett, and Nic Smith, as well as great-granddaughters Naomi White, Abby White, Zoe White, and Hannah Henry. Donna also leaves behind her sister Louise Kubbernus and sister-in-law Sharon Knull, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Surgenor, parents Walter and Edith Knull, brothers Lloyd, Jerry, and Dale Knull, and nephew Darcy Knull.

Donna was a woman of many talents and a strong work ethic. Whether she was working as a telephone operator, waitress, cook, or custodian, she always took pride in doing her job to the best of her abilities. She had a passion for gardening, picking berries, and maintaining a clean and orderly home. Donna possessed a unique talent for playing cards and could win games even with a poor hand. Her love for dancing was infectious, and she would eagerly take to the dance floor with anyone. Known for her cooking skills, she never followed a recipe, resulting in each meal having its own distinct flavor. Donna’s fierce love for her family was unwavering, and she was unapologetically herself, always speaking her mind.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Venter, Dr. Berry, Dr. Sawyer, and the nurses at Unit 35 of the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre for their exceptional care. In memory of Donna, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
