Dorothy CUSHER

With deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Cusher (née Coolich) at Waters Edge Care Community on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She reached the age of 87 at the time of her departure. Dorothy was married to her beloved husband, Peter Cushner, for an incredible 67 years. Regrettably, Peter passed away earlier this year in January. Dorothy was a devoted mother to Cathleen Bourbonnais (Jean) from North Bay and Cindy Dobbs (Todd) from Arizona. Unfortunately, she was preceded in death by her son Perry, leaving behind his wife Susan.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Melissa Abraham (Dave), Danielle Britton, Tyler Cushner (Bianca), Travis, and Dean Cushner. She also leaves a void in the hearts of her great-grandchildren Adele Abraham, Falyn Abraham, and Taylor Cushner. Dorothy cherished her family and maintained strong ties with her siblings throughout her life. She was the cherished sister of Bob Coolich (Karen) and the late Lucy Cable. Additionally, Herb Coolich fondly remembers the loving bond they shared. Many people in the North Bay area fondly recall Dorothy’s dedicated service as the Switchboard attendant at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she tirelessly served for over 25 years.

Honoring Dorothy’s wishes, her remains were cremated. A commemoration of the lives of both Peter and Dorothy will take place at Gateway Church on Marshall Saturday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. The Martyn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements, and those wishing to express their condolences may do so online at: http://www.martynfh.com. Dorothy’s departure has left an immeasurable void that will forever be felt by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched during her remarkable journey.
