Dorothy McQuoid

Dorothy, aged 71, passed away on October 16th, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her brother Jim McQuoid (Theresa) and her sister Marilyn Christie (Doug). Her nieces and nephews, along with their families, also mourn her loss. Dorothy was born on December 5th, 1951 to Don and Marnie McQuoid and was raised on their family farm in Estlin, SK. She attended Estlin School and later went to Luther College in Regina, SK for High School. After completing her University education in Saskatoon, SK, she moved to Calgary, AB in the mid-70’s. For a few years, she worked at Northwest Trust, and later joined Marshall Drugs in the Inglewood area of Calgary, where she served as their Accounting Manager for 43 years until her retirement in April of this year.

Dorothy held a deep affection for animals and dedicated numerous hours volunteering at various animal organizations. Her sharp mind, quick wit, and warm personality endeared her to everyone she met. Dorothy will be forever cherished by those who knew her. In mid-August, she returned to Regina to attend a family gathering, where she reminisced and shared laughter with her siblings, cousins, and extended family members from Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Marnie McQuoid, her partner Bill Rogers, her nephew Robb Mitchell, brother-in-law John Mitchell, sister Susan McQuoid Mitchell, and her beloved dog Trixie.

A Private Family Service will be held in Saskatchewan at a later date to honor Dorothy’s memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Calgary Humane Society (www.calgaryhumane.ca) or the heart and stroke foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/).
