Our beloved Dorothy passed away on October 16th, 2023, at the age of 71 in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her brother, Jim McQuoid (Theresa), and her sister, Marilyn Christie (Doug). Additionally, her nieces, nephews, and their families are grieving her loss. Laine Amireh (Ali, Julia, and Adam), Darren McQuoid (Kobi, Lake, and Kali), Jaimee Olsen (Evelyn and Ethan), Jared McQuoid (son, Jet McQuoid), Marnie Mitchell (Carrie Blaug), Meghan Campbell (Scott, Erik, and William), Jim Christie (Shauna, Dylan, Parker, and Isabelle), and Graham Christie (Hannah Shin) will cherish her memory. Dorothy was born on December 5th, 1951, to Don and Marnie McQuoid, and spent her childhood on their family farm in Estlin, SK. She received her education at Estlin School and Luther College in Regina, SK, where she completed high school. Following her university studies in Saskatoon, SK, she made the move to Calgary, AB, in the mid-70s. For several years, she worked at Northwest Trust before eventually joining Marshall Drugs in the Inglewood area of Calgary, where she served as the Accounting Manager for 43 years until her recent retirement in April this year. In mid-August of this year, Dorothy returned to Regina to join a family gathering, where she delighted in revisiting cherished memories and sharing laughter with her siblings, their families, and numerous cousins from Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Marnie McQuoid, her partner Bill Rogers, her nephew Robb Mitchell, her brother-in-law John Mitchell, her sister Susan McQuoid Mitchell, and her beloved dog, Trixie. Dorothy’s deep affection for animals led her to dedicate countless hours of volunteer work to various animal organizations. Known for her sharp intellect, quick wit, and ability to leave an indelible impression on everyone she met, Dorothy will always be loved and deeply missed.

It was a joyous occasion filled with laughter and fond reminiscences as she bonded with her siblings, extended family members, and cousins from across Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Don and Marnie McQuoid, her partner Bill Rogers, her nephew Robb Mitchell, her brother-in-law John Mitchell, her sister Susan McQuoid Mitchell, and her beloved dog, Trixie. Dorothy possessed an unwavering love for animals, dedicating countless hours to volunteering with various animal organizations. Recognized and cherished for her quick wit, astute mind, and undeniable magnetism, Dorothy will be forever remembered and loved.
