Dorothy Lovina Woelfle, a beloved resident of Tavistock, peacefully passed away at the age of 100 on July 18, 2023, at Stratford General Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1923, in South Easthope Township, Perth County, to her late parents, Daniel and Geraldine (Wittig) Yausie. Dorothy had a passion for crafts, particularly knitting, quilting, crocheting, and working with stained glass. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Tavistock Branch #518 Royal Canadian Legion and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In her younger years, she was employed as a knitter at the J.G. Field & Co. Woollen Mill in Tavistock. On August 3, 1946, Dorothy married Harold Henry Woelfle, who preceded her in death on September 19, 2005. She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law: Douglas and Darlene, Kevin and Diane, Keith and Brenda, and Kenneth and Cheryl. Along with her loving family, Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her niece, Mary Ann Keller.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandson, Sean Woelfle, as well as her brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Sara Yausie, and Walter Yausie. Her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Erma and Walter Merklinger, also preceded her in death. A private funeral service was conducted at the Francis Funeral Home in Tavistock, with Pastor Michael Mayer officiating. She was laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Tavistock. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Maples Home for Seniors and the 1st floor medicine nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital for their compassionate care towards Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tavistock Branch #518 Royal Canadian Legion or Tavistock Historical Society would be greatly appreciated.
