Douglas RIDDELL

Douglas George Riddell, formerly of Grand Bend, passed away peacefully at Jessica’s House Residential Hospice in Exeter on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was in his 89th year. Douglas was the beloved husband of the late Betty Louise Riddell (nee Whaling) who passed away in 2003. He was the cherished father of Steven Riddell (Ilona) and Sandra and Ian Reid. Douglas was a loving grandfather, survived by his grandchildren Maddison, Mitchell, and Rose Riddell (Noah), as well as Stuart and Sydney Reid. He is also survived by his brother Jack and sisters-in-law Anita Riddell, Leone Riddell, and Donna Whaling. Douglas will be remembered by his former daughter-in-law Susan Riddell. He was the son of the late Wm. Keith Riddell (1970) and Dorothy Belle (nee Spong) (1990). Douglas was preceded in death by his twin sisters Dorothy Jean (1930) and Beth King (2001), as well as in-laws Jerry King, Peg and Irv Heimpel, Sally and Bill Steinburg, Frank and Anne Whaling, Bill and Helen Whaling, and Len Whaling. He will be deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Lam, the staff at the Exeter Villa, and Jessica’s House for their exceptional care. As per Douglas’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment service will be held at St. Marys Cemetery in St. Marys. A Celebration of Life for friends and family was held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Best Western Plus the Arden Park Hotel in Stratford. The T.
