Doug, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, fulfilled his final wish as he peacefully passed away at his home on October 22, 2023 – just three days after celebrating his remarkable 55 years of marriage to his cherished soulmate, Patsy. Left with everlasting memories, he leaves behind their loving sons, Ross and Erik, along with their caring daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Andrea. Their hearts will always hold a special place for their beloved grandchildren, Liam, Kale, Nate, and Cash. Doug’s presence as a proud father and doting grandfather will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Doug’s zest for life was evident through his involvement as an enthusiastic member of the Qualicum Beach Rotary Sunrise club for an impressive 16 years. His free time was often spent indulging in his favorite hobbies – golfing, fishing, and experimenting in the kitchen where he would ingeniously whip up delightful meals for his family and friends, leaving them with full bellies and hearts overflowing with gratitude.
To honor his memory, a joyous celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and loved ones to come together, share stories, and pay tribute to a remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to BC Cancer Research, an organization close to Doug’s heart, reflecting his philanthropic spirit and desire for a better future.
Doug’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his loved ones, forever admired and remembered for the profound impact he had in their lives.
