Duane Glenn Junop, born on July 21, 1955, sadly passed away on October 19, 2023 at the age of 68 after battling lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, his mother, June, and his niece, Shauna Junop. Duane will be fondly remembered by his brothers, Doug and Kent, his sister Lynn McIntyre, as well as his nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Duane spent his formative years on his family’s farm and received his education in Delisle. Throughout his youth, he actively participated in the beef portion of the Donavon 4-H Club and delighted in watching sports. Among his memorable experiences were helping the Traynor family transport cattle to the Toronto Winter Fair by train and embarking on a ski trip to Whitefish, Montana with close friends from the community. Although the presence of large gatherings made Duane uneasy, he always exhibited genuine concern for everyone’s well-being. Family held a special place in his heart.

Following a brief stint at Cominco Potash Mine, Duane dedicated his life to farming alongside his brothers. Farming became the cornerstone of his existence, first with dairy and later transitioning to grain production. With pride, the farm expanded to include his Junop nephews. Even until the end, Duane remained fully engaged in farming activities, including the 2023 harvest. He lived and breathed farming, relishing its challenges and rewards. Duane possessed a wealth of knowledge and eagerly engaged in conversations, particularly those surrounding weather, current events both local and global, and, of course, agriculture.

In honor of Duane’s memory, the family kindly requests no flowers. A Graveside Service will be held at Avondale Woodlawn Cemetery in Delisle, Saskatchewan on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to share their memories or offer condolences may do so by visiting the website http://www.parkfuneral.ca.
