MCGHEE, Earl Douglas

Earl Douglas McGhee (91) of London, Ontario passed away on January 25, 2024.

Born in Horning’s Mills, Ontario, he led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and a true sense of purpose. Earl is predeceased by his father (Robert), his mother (Gertrude), sister Lorene and brother Lloyd.

Earl is survived by the love of his life Marion (nee Bray), to whom he was married for 67 years, his daughter Debra Williams and son Paul (Allison).

He cherished his role as Grandpa and was always delighted to spend time with his grandchildren: Maddy, Olivia, Hannah, Alexandra, Matthew and Mitchell. We will remember his kindness, intellect, and unwavering commitment to our family.

He was an amazing person; known for his great sense of humour and his endearing bond with animals and children, especially our family dogs. After a dedicated 30+ year career at the Ministry of Transportation, he enjoyed part-time work, including several fondly remembered years at Sunningdale Golf Course.

Always a lover of the outdoors he took the family on many camping adventures over the years and he enjoyed canoeing, fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed curling for a number of years at the London Curling Club. Traveling, particularly on cruises, became a treasured tradition for Earl and Marion. He was a man of faith, and served as a deacon and treasurer at North Park Community Church for many years. We bid farewell to a life well-lived, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of a funeral service a family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted” – Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2
