FENWICK, Edward Tremble (Ted)
June 29, 1928 – January 27, 2024

Peacefully, at the age of 95, Ted passed away at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, Kanata on January 27, 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by Marilyn (Potter), his loving wife of 68 years, and his brother Don (late Jean). He leaves behind his son Bob (Gillian), his daughter Judy Scaife (Rob), his grandchildren Shannon, Reid, Andrew and Stephen, and his brother Jack (Penny).

Born in Montreal to Norah (Tremble) and James Reid Fenwick, Ted was a graduate of McGill University, Mechanical Engineering ’50. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career with Northern Electric and Northern Telecom, primarily at the Lachine Wire & Cable Division, retiring in 1983 and moving to Manotick in 1992.

As a young boy, Ted learned to play golf in the Laurentians and was a dedicated golfer, proud to have been a member of a golf club for 85 straight years. He was an active member of the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club in Manotick for the past 32 years, and played regularly until he was 94. He also actively enjoyed both downhill and cross-country skiing until well into his 80s.

An accomplished painter, Ted was a longtime member of the Manotick Art Association. He and Marilyn loved to travel, and over the years saw much of the world together on road trips, cruises and safaris.

Since 2016, Ted lived at the VIVA Barrhaven retirement community enjoying the company of his many friends. The family thanks the kind staff of VIVA for their friendship and support.

He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a warm and kind gentleman with a sense of humour.

The family welcomes friends for a Time to Remember gathering at Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, on Thursday, February 8 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m., with shared words of remembrance from his family around 3 p.m. A private burial will be held in advance.
