MEYRICK, Edward Luther “Lu”, aged 86, passed away on August 1, 2023. He was a beloved father to Ken (Colleen) and Kathy, and a cherished grandfather to Cameron, Kyle, Nicole, Adam, Kayla, Rose Marie, and Jacob. Additionally, he was a great-grandfather to Alayna, Maverick, Parker, and Benjamin. Throughout his final year, Lu was tenderly cared for by his ‘baby sister’ Cherryl Breault. His nieces, nephew, sister-in-law Joyce, friends Diane and Larry Campeau, as well as his cousins in the UK, will also fondly remember him. Lu was reunited in death with his parents Edward (1985) and Gwen (2005), his brother Robin (2013), and his brother-in-law John (2009). Born in London, England, Lu took great pride in his Welsh heritage. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 after showcasing his soccer skills and being scouted by several teams in Canada and the USA. Throughout his professional life, Lu held various careers and found particular joy in teaching health and safety on Great Lakes freighters and for EllisDon Construction. The family expresses deep gratitude to the compassionate staff at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and Tilbury Gardens for their exceptional care. Out of respect for Lu’s wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Simple Choice.

Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephew, sister-in-law Joyce, friends Diane and Larry Campeau, and cousins in the UK, Lu was reunited in heaven with his parents Edward (1985), Gwen (2005), brother Robin (2013), and brother-in-law John (2009). Born in London, England, Lu took immense pride in his Welsh heritage. He made the move to Canada in 1952 after captivating the attention of numerous soccer teams in Canada and the USA. Lu enjoyed various careers throughout his life and found great fulfillment in teaching health and safety on Great Lakes freighters and at EllisDon Construction.
