Elaine Wilson

Elaine Wilson, beloved wife of David Roy Wilson and mother to Tracy and Jeff MacMillan, Neil and Cathy Simpson, Leslie Butler, and David and Tara Wilson, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023 at Stedman Community Hospice. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments. Elaine, aged 76, leaves behind a legacy of love that shines through the eyes of her 10 grandchildren: Amy, Reece, Stuart, Amber, Britney, Alaina (Colten), Nolan (Jessie), Madison, Bailey, and Cole (Bailee).

Elaine dedicated 45 years of her life to the field of nutrition and dietetics, counseling and training new professionals. Her passion for education and personal excellence was evident from an early age, as she achieved high levels in Guiding Leadership and Red Cross Swimming Instruction. She served as the Head of Dietetics at the Brantford General Hospital and also held the position of Internship Director in collaboration with The University of Guelph. Even after retiring from the BGH, Elaine continued her love for dietetics by working part-time for Therapy Specialties. Throughout her career, she pursued further knowledge, earning a second Master’s Degree and seizing opportunities for continued learning. In retirement, she remained actively involved in her community by volunteering with organizations such as Canadian Guide Dogs, Stedman Community Hospice, local hospitals, and elementary schools where she helped children improve their reading skills. Elaine was also an active member of the Brant Food Service Advisors and The Probus Club. Above all her community involvement, her greatest joy came from the happiness and well-being of her family. As she leaves this world, Elaine instills in her loved ones the trust that they will continue to find peace, hope, and joy amid the sadness.
