Eleanor BROWN

BROWN, Eleanor Irene (Ming) (nee Fleming)

Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 98 in Ottawa early on Saturday morning, January 27, 2024 with family close by. Eleanor was born in Novar, Ontario and grew up in the Huntsville and Owen Sound areas. She attended Queen’s University, graduating with a degree in arts in 1948.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Don Brown, and survived by her four boys, Gordon of Sydney, BC, Walter of Yellowknife, NWT, Tim (Karen) of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Doug (Anna) of Ottawa. She leaves behind eight grandchildren Cindy, Tammy, Donna, Lindsay (Jonathan), Mike (Jenn), Kevin, Christina, and Brianna and 5 great-grandchildren Elle, Leo, Tommy, Kacie, and Sophie, who treasured their time with GG Ming.

Eleanor was an avid sailor, golfer, and curler throughout her life, especially in her retirement years spent in St. Catharines. She also cherished her time with her friends at St. George Anglican Church where she will eventually rest with Don.

Eleanor was compassionate in everyday life and a loving and caring mother who was always thinking of others right to the end. She will be dearly missed by all. A private ceremony will be held at a time when her whole family can attend.Condolences/Tributes/Donations
