Elizabeth BONDY-MEDD

Elizabeth “Betty” Bondy-Medd, formerly known as Elizabeth McGarrity, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack C. Medd in 2022, and James Roby Bondy in 1986. Betty is survived by her five children: Colleen Bondy, Carol O’Brien, James Stephen Bondy, Noreen Bondy, and Patty Crack. She will also be greatly missed by her stepchildren, David Medd and Jodie Medd. Betty was a cherished grandmother to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, William Harrington McGarrity, in 2021. Betty will be remembered fondly by her extended family and cherished friends, especially Maureen (Harry), whom she considered as another daughter.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 8th floor at WRH – Ouellette Campus, with special recognition to Pam, Shannon, and Willie for ensuring Betty’s comfort and well-being throughout her journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic or the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation in Betty’s memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with parish prayers taking place at 4:30 p.m. at Families First, located at 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor. Visitation will resume on the day of the Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd. W.) from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow.
