Elizabeth McNamara, fondly known as Betty, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Marianhill Residence in Pembroke on July 21, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late John Lawrence McNamara and the loving mother of Larry McNamara (Bonnie) from Cumberland. Betty is remembered as a cherished grandmother to Adam, Laura, Justin, and Patrick. Sadly, she was predeceased by her children David and Daryl McNamara, Nancy Garrett, as well as her siblings Grace Vallee (late Joseph), Jacqueline Irving (late Gerald), Vincent Melancon, Douglas Melancon, Sidney Melancon, and Gregory Melancon. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all her nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather at the Murphy Funeral Home on July 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to share their fondest memories of Betty. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at 11:00 a.m. the same day at the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in Pembroke. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest at St. Columba’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Residents Fund of Pinewood Retirement Home.

To honor the life of Betty, friends and family are encouraged to join the visitation at Murphy Funeral Home on July 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Together, they will reminisce and celebrate the beautiful moments they had with her. Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on the same day at the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in Pembroke. The final resting place for Betty will be St. Columba’s Cemetery.
