With deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing of Eva Korin (formerly Szeidl) at 100 years old on October 24, 2023, in Montreal. Eva was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, Maximillian Korin. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tamara (Alexander), grandchildren Tanya (Justin) and Sonia (Sebastien), as well as her great-grandchildren Ethan, Jacob, Ellie, and Noa, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Eva will forever be remembered for her remarkable memory, sharp sense of humor, and limitless generosity.

Eva was born on August 11, 1923, in Bratislava, Slovakia. She was the sole survivor of her family during the harrowing holocaust period. Overcoming adversity, she seized the opportunity to pursue education, a right unjustly denied to her before. Eva emerged as a trailblazing computer analyst for Nestle in Germany after the war. In 1983, alongside her late husband, Eva retired and relocated to Montreal, where they spent their remaining years with their daughter and her family.

The Korin family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ruzenka Basovnik, whose love and tender care provided solace to Eva. Additionally, they express their appreciation to the compassionate and devoted staff of the Kastner pavilion’s 6th floor at the Jewish Eldercare Centre. A funeral service will be held on November 3, 2023, at 2 pm, at the Mount Royal funeral complex, located at 1297 chemin de la Foret, Outremont QC H2V2P9. Those wishing to honor Eva’s memory are encouraged to contribute to the Israel Emergency Fund through Federation CJA (514-345-2645, ext. 2600).
