Frances McIlroy

Frances A. McIlroy passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023 at the Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran’s wing where she had been residing for the past 7 years. She was born on June 16, 1917. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband Joseph McIlroy. She is survived and deeply missed by her children, Paul McIlroy and Donna Hamelin, as well as her beloved grandchildren Avery and Sof Hamelin. Frances dedicated her professional life to nursing and served in the Canadian Army from 1944 to 1946, where she was stationed overseas. After her military service, she worked as a Public Health Nurse in Toronto and North Bay. Known for her grace, thoughtfulness, and nurturing nature, Frances was cherished as both a friend and a matriarch. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her numerous friends and caregivers who made sure she always felt loved, important, and connected to a compassionate community throughout her life.
