Francesco Romeo, aged 77, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, July 31, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Rosalba (Garreffa) Romeo and a loving father to Bruno (wife Cindy) and Patrizio (wife Sylvie). Francesco was a cherished Nonno/Bello to Zoë, Alexia, and Domenica. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Carmela (Cavallo) Romeo, as well as his sister Francesca (Giuseppe Spadaro). He is survived by his siblings Concetta (Vito Mittica), Antonietta (Domenico Panetta), Paolina (Rocco Oppedisano), and Angelina (Saverio Romano). Francesco’s parents-in-law, Tomasso and Concetta Garrefa, also predeceased him. He is fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Francesco will be forever remembered as an avid gardener whose skilled green thumb produced a bountiful harvest of vegetables. He took great pride in his winemaking abilities and always generously shared his wine with loved ones. Additionally, Francesco excelled at making delicious salami, capicollo, and sopressata. His zest for life was infectious, and his happiness brought joy and love to everyone around him. He especially cherished moments spent at the dinner table with his family, particularly his treasured grandchildren.

Friends and acquaintances are invited to pay their respects at the Lougheed Funeral Home, located at 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street, Sudbury, on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers will be held at 3pm on Friday. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11am at Our Lady of Hope Church, located at 591 Brennan Street, Sudbury. Francesco will be laid to rest at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association or the HSN Cardiac Rehab Program (YMCA) would be greatly appreciated. Francesco was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Tomasso and Concetta Garrefa. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

Francesco will be remembered for his passion for gardening, where his green thumb consistently yielded a bounty of vegetables. Parish prayers will be offered at 3pm on Friday. A funeral mass in honor of Francesco will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11am at Our Lady of Hope Church on 591 Brennan Street, Sudbury. Following the service, Francesco will be laid to rest in the peaceful St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
